Transcaucasia - also called Transcaucasus and South Caucasus - is a geopolitical region located on the border of Eastern Europe and Southwest Asia. The name is a convenient one for the grouping of the three former Soviet Union countries of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia - and for three heavily disputed regions in theory parts of one or more of the countries – Abkhazia and South Ossetia in theory in Georgia, and Nagorno-Karabakh in theory in Azerbaijan.
