MENON

From Researching Virtual Initiatives in Education

MENON, is a European innovation and research network. It provides information, evaluation, consultancy and development support to policy makers, industry and society at large on issues related to learning, and how learning is linked to organizational and social developments in Europe and worldwide. The network is active both at national level, through its members, and at transnational level, where the EEIG co-ordinates projects and other collaboration and support work to the European Commission and to international organisations.

The mission of MENON

The mission of MENON is to facilitate the evolution of the Knowledge Society in Europe and in other parts of the world, making learning a priority issue in policy agendas around economic, social and cultural development at both national and international level.

MENON’s main interests focus on the following areas: Learning Innovation - Development of Skills & Competencies in the Knowledge Society - Support to International Cooperation - Social Inclusion

MENON aims at:

• Making learning a priority issue on the policy agendas about human capital and economic development at national and international level;
• Improving the quality of learning opportunities in Europe;
• Facilitating international collaboration on Knowledge Society related issues (eLearning, eInclusion, ehealth, eGovernment);
• Enhancing the competitiveness of the European education institutions and e-Learning providers in the emerging global learning markets.

MENON’s services include:

• Benchmarking and ‘benchlearning’ methods and applications
• Foresight analysis and prospective research
• Supporting stakeholder collaboration and networking
• Support to promoting policy dialogue

The MENON Network is active both at national level, through its members, and at transnational level, where the EEIG coordinates co-funded projects, and is active in other collaboration and support work for the European Commission and international organisations.

History of MENON

MENON was created out of a succesful Esprit project in 1999 as a non-for-profit EEIG (European Economic Interest Group) in Brussels.

The MENON headquarters are located in Brussels, Belgium.
